SFIS Undergraduate Research Fellow Program (SURF)

Even though I am a graduate student at this time, I was still eligible to participate in the SURF program, which comes from the College of Global Futures: Future of Innovation in Society.

This project focuses on the planning and technology of the World's Expo happening in Osaka, Japan in 2025. Focusing on about ten pavilions of the 160+ in attendance, I explore the variations and effectiveness of the design work. These pavilions include countries, themes, and companies that want to demonstrate their technology and culture on a world stage.

Choosing to focus on countries whose major export is a part or material heavily used in manufacturing elsewhere. Whether this be chemicals, polymers, or other materials, I wanted to focus on how the world connects through manufacturing and what can be learned from those interactions.

A poster presentation will be available in December upon completion of the program.
